"19th June Day 6 Azores - Falmouth"
Here we are 15km away from halfway, with not a lot
of wind pushing us in a northerly direction. We were making excellent
progress until midnight when the wind died on us. We started up the "iron
horse" and continued along our rhumb line. The wind was still idle after
two hours and as there is a lack of gas stations in the
vicinity, Noel decided to save our precious fuel and set the sails and
we ambled through the night at 2kts!
Dawn has broken with the promise of a lovely sunny
day, the wind is gradually increasing and we are picking up speed, it is time to
download a new GRIB file so that we can see how the winds are
developing around us. Frustrating as it is, we have made some
good fast passages, so I guess that is right and proper that we should have
our turn at a slow one!
All is well on board.
