Best laid plans and all that.....we are still in
the pond! We checked the forecast on Wednesday evening
after a beautiful calm and sunny day and decided that there was a small window
for us to leave the pond at high tide on Thursday and sail straight for
Brightlingsea before the weather deteriorated yet again. However, we woke
up on Thursday morning to torrential rain with strong winds forecast and took
the decision to delay our departure. There seemed little point in arriving
at Brightlingsea and being stuck there until the weather improved. We are
still squirreling away stores etc on Whisper and it is far easier to do this
alongside the pontoon in the Walton & Frinton Yacht Basin, than ferrying
bags etc to and fro across the creek at Brightlingsea. I must say that
tucked up in bed last night listening to the wind and rain lashing against the
window, we were very glad to be at home!
Looking at the forecast, Monday 25th
June looks like a good day to start off. They say that the hardest
part of any journey is starting off, I thought, that meant overcoming the
general apprehension of the journey, but seemingly it is the
weather!
