We set off from Motril at 9:15, setting a 44NM route west to Malaga. Strong westerly winds of plus 20knts and swells had waves crashing over the bow making conditions very uncomfortable, so we cut the trip short (29NM), heading into Velez, and berthing SB side-to in the marina at Caleta de Velez at 13:45. Checked in to marina, connected power, again very reasonable price (€63 for the night). Julie and Mick went to supermarket whilst I attended to some business. On their return we had an Aperol Spritz before a shower and then to pizza restaurant in town. The tavernas near the marina were booked out or very busy.

Winds continued to strengthen to the point where we cut the leg short, in Velez
