This is a large bay with taverns
and very close to ‘Dalyan’ and the ancient city of ‘Caunos’ which as we all know
has those famous cliff tombs. It was a trip we had to do. The sail was pretty
typical and we found a nice anchorage just off the beach. Ekincik is a totally non-touristy little gem. It was full of locals swimming and barbecuing. Bob was even able to buy a barbecued Corn on the cob - his favorite. Bob arranged for one of the day
tripper boats to take us to Dalyan and to come to our boat the next morning to
pick us up. We booked a restaurant
for the evening on the beach. There just something fun about dingying over to
the shore, pull the dingy up the beach and then stroll over to a restaurant that
is right on the beach! ..at sunset
The forecast called for 25 kt
winds for the next day and pushing us onto a lee shore. John decided to stay
with the boat ‘just in case’ while the three of us boarded this unique painted
wooden boat, which would take us down the river to enjoy all the sights.
The tombs were fascinating,
beautifully carved stone masonry ..and we found the pile of rocks that used to
be a city!
Tuesday, June25th. We now have to return back to Fethiye Bay. |
