Athens to Sounion Bay

May 20th

We left Athens for the Bay of Sounion.

We had a great sail just 16 miles east along the coast.

The overall bay is picture perfect.
With no wind to speak of forecast overnight we anchored away from the other boats to a super sandy spot on our own with just one small hotel or home on the shore.

The backdrop for our anchorage is high on the cliff - Poseidon Temple.  Extremely well preserved and a set on a promontory in command of all around.

We had a lovely sunset dinner.
The temple was lit up to perfection.
The sky had a slight hue of red.
This was the most peaceful place you would ever want to be.
aaaaaahhhhh…

11pm.
The hotel in the bay came alive! Disco music! Yay!
Fireworks.
More fireworks!

Great fun!

The disco eventually stopped at 1.30am.

John slept through it.
