Overnight stop at Baiona, Spain. (..and 2,000 miles on)
A Coruna to Bayona Sept 6th We left aCoruna at 10.30 am for
Bayona. Nothing of importance during this
sail. At 10.30am the next day we saw the ripples on the water. Sure enough the wind built to up to 25 knots and we had a great sail for the next two hours into Bayona (Baiona in Spanish!). We were given a good mooring on the outside of the Marina and docked around 12.30. Baiona is a quaint town complete with cobbled lanes and good restaurants. It’s very popular with sailing yacht making their way to and from the Med. Very busy when we arrived due to the huge regatta taking part at the local Yacht club. The Fortress stands at the
entrance to the Harbour. We walked around the battlements which gave us an
overall picture of the town and coastline. Bob & I went on the replica of
the Pinta Maria and soaked in the local history of these old ships leaving to
discover the New World. |
