Puerto Banus, Marbella, Spain.
“Stern to” mooring is actually relatively easy - with help on the dock from one of the marina staff. This
Marina is for the rich and famous and a complete contrast to Gibraltar.
It’s a fascinating place and we are really enjoying the people watching and dare I say car watching. You drive your car onto the pontoon here to unload! There is a black Bentley convertible with English number plates sitting beside our boat as I write this – like really black, no chrome, just black. We have seen numerous Ferraris, Bentleys, Porches, Audi R8’s, Rolls Royce’s, Expensive Mercedes and even a Bugatti. The shops have every designer you can think of and many of the women at night are dressed accordingly. It has been a lot of fun watching the seriously rich play. John and I have to duck the paparazzi now and then but hey, that’s the price fame, hahaha! This is the most expensive marina with the least number of facilities we have ever stayed at! Even then we are on their winter rates! Everyone is super friendly. This is party town. The last two nights the parties have squealed on, strummed on, screamed on and crews re-boarded their motor yachts ‘til 4am! Marbella
can be reached by boat, taxi, bus or a 7km walk. The old town of Marbella again has beautiful architecture, cobbled streets and many wonderful local side-street restaurants, (or as I call them ‘Home Team’ restaurants). The winds are non-existent for another 5 days. Tough life, hanging out here! ..”NO John! You can’t fit one of those Bentley’s in the lazerette and YES I’m sure they would miss it.” |
