There is something that gives you a nice warm feeling about the island. There are well kept whitewashed homes in small villages and very nice churches that are nothing grand but very welcoming. Although the two main towns look run down and leave lot to be desired the interior is really beautiful. It’s a complete contrast to the cities.

People were right to encourage us to visit the island.

There always seems so much maintenance to do on a boat what with cleaning and polishing to adjusting mechanical parts – and the salt! Salt gets everywhere and does a real number if it is not cleaned away immediately. Rust appears out of nowhere within just a few weeks if you are not careful.

We leave tomorrow for Majorca via one of the cute anchorages on the north east coast that we noticed as we toured the island the other day. Majorca isn’t really that far to sail but it is one of those distances that mean you either have to set out or arrive in the dark. Neither of these choices are good news for places that are unknown to you so we have decided to anchor overnight a short distance along and take 2 days over the trip.
This should be a very nice easy sail over two days ..
