Our sail down from Jamaica was fairly lively – the upside being it only took three days and nights instead of four.  Arriving in the West Holandse Cays in late afternoon light was magical.  We chose Waisaladup for its straightforward approach and entry (the San Blas islands are littered with yacht wrecks), dropped anchor in one of our most beautiful anchorages yet and had a much needed rum as the sun set.  We spent the next few weeks just exploring these gorgeous islands – they truly are blissful.

We enjoyed anchorages at theCoco Banderos, Green Island and Combombia before back up to the beautiful Holandse.  The snorkelling was magnificent, the water clarity superb and somestunning white sandy beaches to wander along.  The native Kuna Indians were friendly enough although we got the distinct feeling we were tolerated only because of the money we put into these islands – they charge for every anchorage.  The further away from the crowds we were the better deals we negotiated when it came to buying crayfish, fish and mola (hand made appliques).

After Christmas the anchorages started to fill up so with the trades nicely honking we opted to clear out and head west.
