Ile a Vache, a tiny island off the Haitian coast, proved a welcoming anchorage for Bandit after three days at sea.  We’d heard much about the poverty here but hadn’t realised just how shockingly poor the people are.  It was heart breaking to see the conditions the locals live in and we tried to help as much as we could by providing jobs for the locals, donating ropes and an old sail and buying some rice and beans.  We’ve written more about it on our blog – www.yachtbandit.blogspot.com – along with some great photos.

 

We spent five days there and loved it, despite the heart wrenching poverty.  We felt we helped a little.
