The minutes on our satellite phone run out today so this will be our last blog for a while.  It was pointless renewing them when we are on our final passage – in two days we will be sailing in to Queen Charlotte Sounds!

 

We had reasonable wind all night and managed to sail at around 5 knots.  It was right on the nose and so were the waves so there were some big bangs as we crashed off waves.  Sleep is always fitful the first night out but we both managed to snatch a few hours and then dozen on and off in the cockpit.  

 

The winds lightened off this morning and so we’re motoring as we need to beat a nasty system in.  Hopefully the winds will do as forecast and turn westerly later today to give us a good nudge towards our destination – we’re still quite a long way offshore right now.   The strong winds arrive Tuesday and hopefully by then we will be heading into Queen Charlotte Sound.
