After a fairly hairy departure from the beautiful Berry Islands we had a bash to windward to lay the rather tricky entrance into Eluthera.  The hairy departure was all due to timing – we needed to get to the Eluthera entrance channel in good light so had to leave the Berrys early morning.  Problem was, the wind was blowing 20knots on the nose and it was a rather narrow channel to get out off.  Tension was high but unnecessarily so as the skipper’s navigation was spot on.

 

We overnighted off Eluthera and then had a magic day/night sail down to Georgetown.  It was one of those sails you dream of – flat seas, 15 knots of wind on the beam, a starry and moonlit night.  We stopped off the bottom of Eluthera for a swim and to get our timing right for the zigzag channel into Georgetown.  David spotted a huge lobster right under Bandit but he was obviously huge for a reason – he was also very cunning.  To protect him further he shared his hole with a moray eel.  Needless to say it was chicken for dinner!

 

Georgetown was lovely and we spent several days sitting out a blow and just enjoying the turquoise waters, sandy beaches and lovely bush walks.  The town was fairly average but we did find a laundromat, internet and fresh fruit.
