Yes there is a movie called Quarantine....and as we’ve just cleared customs and taken our yellow quarantine flag down, it seems appropriate.  Clearing in was pretty easy – apart from the language issue.  The locals speak a dialect of Portugese (a spoken language)...that obviously only they understand.  We got by in basic French....but it goes to show how one dimensional we Kiwis are with our dreadful language skills.  If I was minister of education I would make a second language compulsory (and not maori!). 

 

We plan to be in the Cape Verdes for one to two weeks and will be going from here (Sal) to Sao Nicolau and then Sao Vicente.  As it appears these islands will be magical photo opportunities, we will keep this blog to a minimum, if at all, and post pics and stories on our other site – www.yachtbandit.blogspot.com  Give me a few days to find internet so I can update it and then feel free to browse and live vicariously through us.
