We’d been a bit nervous about sailing around Cape Hatteras – its reputation is notorious with sailors.  The warm Gulf Stream flows very close to the Cape and all weather seems to centre around this spot and conditions can be appalling. We picked a light south westerly which we hoped wouldn’t develop into anything more and set off from Cape Lookout after another fun night with Eye Candy and Jack Tar.  We needn’t have worried – we ended up motoring right around the Cape with the wind never eventuating.  Jack Tar and Eye Candy opted for the intra coastal inland route up to Norfolk, which we plan to do on the way back down.
