Southern grandeur and charm were to the fore in stunning Charleston.  We spent 10 days here just absorbing this wonderful city with its oh so elegant old homes – most beautifully restored and exceptionally grand.  It was graduation time while we were here and it was intriguing to watch the College of Charleston event – thousands of young men and women all dressed in white (dresses for girls, tuxedos for boys).  The weekly Farmers’ Market was absorbing....we spent ages just wandering checking out the arts and crafts and food on sale.  Sam flew in from New York for 24 hours – a short visit but fantastic to see him all the same.

Fellow cruisers Jack Tar (Carol and Pete), who we first met in Spain, and Eye Candy (Andy and Clare) who we met in the Greek Islands, turned up so we had a fun time.  Always so nice to meet up with friends.
