Looking back at Lagos

We had a good time in Lagos. We were there for 13 days with Tim´s parents
staying at
a hotel nearby for much of the time. The children really enjoyed seeing their
grandma and grandad. Plus they got to swim in their hotel pool and watch the
Simpsons on their hotel TV. John and Shirley had hired a car and took us
out and
about a bit, which made a change. We also used the car to stock up with
some heavy
tins and stuff from the supermarket.

Anna got an ear infection - probably all that swimming. Grandad drove us
to the
local health centre, where they gave us antibiotics and all is fine now.

Lagos is very much part of the Algarve. There were a lot of British and
German
holiday-makers when we first arrived. Most disappeared the weekend the
schools went
back. But it remains distinctly Portugese and it is a lot hotter than
Lisbon and the
Atlantic coast.

It was good to see John and Shirley but sad, too, to say goodbye. They´ve
both been
big supporters of our trip. It was kind of them to fly out to see us and
we´re looking forward to seeing them when we get back.
