It has been quite a while since the last blog but that’s because we are enjoying life here in Vanuatu, lazing around really. Mike went on a refresher dive course with the local diving company. You can just see him on the flybridge of the dive boat as they left harbour. I took the standing on the foredeck of Falbala expecting him to wave at me but he completely ignored me, too deep in conversation with the dive master! He enjoyed his dive but didn’t see many unsual fish species or fantastic corals. We went for lunch at La Tentation, a French restaurant on the water front here in Port Vila. We’ll probably be very large by the time we get home with all the food we eat! Food was good but the best thing was the view. You can see on the photo below the bay and the anchorage where we are. The local beer, Tusker, is very good. Mike appreciates it so much that he turned into a bottle... Smile. We went shopping and Mike treated himself to a remote controlled helicopter complete with camera and video facilities. We had to wait a few days before test flying it because he was unwell for a couple of days and also because we had unpleasant three days weather front which brought loads of clouds and some rain. But it is all good now and he and Michael from Astarte, our American neighbours, went to the cricket field to fly it. They had much fun and managed to not totally crash and destroy it! Last night was party night on Falbala with Michael and Barbara from Astarte and Dennis and Sherry from Trillium, also from the USA, whom we met in Fiji. Lovely evening. We hope that the wind will finally change direction next week and allow us to sail to Noumea. We are not in a hurry and enjoy it here but it would be nice to see new Caledonia. Will keep you posted.
