The EJ's Voyage

Well it all happened here! The "boys" that's Peter from Sequel II, the New Zealander boat and Mike, decided yesterday morning after looking at the forecast that we should leave there and then. So we got the boats ready and were off the anchorage by 12:30

It took us a long while before we got out at sea in deep waters. It is so shallow everywhere. Both boats went aground quite a few times before we could find a passage out. The shoals must be shifting because they never are where the chart says they are!

Good sail until about midnight. Then the wind got up the sea built up a bit too. Our engine stopped working again so we had to go down the engine room and repeat the bleeding process. Got it working eventually. Head winds for quite a while so we had to tack a few times. We were about 3 miles off our destination when a huge squall hit us and got us bouncing in 40kts of wind and torrential rain. Lucky that Mike knows how to handle a boat!

Anyway, safely anchored in the mangroves (it is 11AM) waiting for NW winds to come so we can round the corner.

Beautiful weather now. But the next storm and as per forecast last one for a while is scheduled for this afternoon and tomorrow. So hope to be able to leave again on Thursday.

We are shattered now, not a lot of sleep last night so will take a nap and have an early dinner with Peter and Robyn.

Hope you are all surviving your tough winter.

Love
Catherine and Mike
