After a truly great two weeks in Martinique, we sailed to Roseau, Dominica, yesterday. It is certainly a big change from the French island . Wild  and beautiful too.

Actually, we first got here last Sunday afternoon and promptly noticed when Mike went to clear custom that his wallet was nowhere to be found onboard. Retracing what we did the night before and after making a few phone calls we located the wallet at the custom office in St Pierre, Martinique! So the next morning we sailed back to Martinique (5 hours) at the crack of dawn hoping to get back to Dominica the same day. Unfortunately, the custom office is closed on Mondays so we had to stay the night in St Pierre. As it turned out we enjoyed the day very much visiting the village, museum etc and had a fantastic meal in a little restaurant with very friendly owners. Had the most delicious frog legs!

So we are now back in Dominica. yesterday we took a mooring buoy in Roseau again and hired a taxi  to tour the south of the island and visit the capital which is Roseau. We went to see the Trafalgar waterfalls (photo attached). Quite spectacular in a tropical jungle arena. We witnessed the two waterfalls, one hot spring water and the other cold water from the lake above . There were also hot springs with the acrid smell of sulpher. We are delighted to be here (not for the acrid smell!).

Today we sailed to  Portsmouth, North of the island to go down the Indian River on a rowing boat and say hello to the iguanas. Dinner tonight at Big Papas on the beach...

Tomorrow short sail to Les Saintes which everyone say is so gorgeous, then 1 stop in Guadeloupe, probably Point A Pitre, and then Antigua where we will meet up with Mark and Gulliver again.

Unfortunately Mike's Mum is back in hospital with Pneumonia which is sadening and worrying us. Luckily Helen, Mike's daughter, is looking after her wonderfully despite her heavy work/study schedule. Let's hope she will recover soon.

Take care everyone. To the next blog!

Love

Catherinex  (and Mike)

P.S.: one of the photo attached was taken in Dominica. It reads: "Sulkies Bread and Cocoa Tea is Better than viagra". Well, now you have been told!
