The EJ's Voyage

Things are not looking terribly good for us at the moment. As you know, we decided to delay our departure because of our satellite communication break down. This is still not fixed. The supposedly magic "Red Box" has arrived but is not working. Ed from Mailasail London has taken remote control of our laptop the other day and spent 3 hours re-programming our red box. Bottom line is we still can't get emails. After all the money we spent on this and the delay in our departure this is more than frustrating. Being a Bank Holiday today in the UK does help but we hope that Ed will have found time over the weekend to work on it and that he will call us tonight to access our laptop remotely again and sort the problem out.

However the weather is against us at the moment. We hoped to be able to go tomorrow but it is not going to be so. Strong headwinds are forecast and now we are told by the Met guru here that there might be an opportunity on Thursday or Friday but it is too soon to know for sure. Safety has to come first though so we must be patient.

So here we are, spirits quite low and...waiting. Wind is blowing hard and the rain squalls are bringing heavy downpours.

We know have to decide what to do with all our flights booked from Fiji and from Gatwick back to IOM. We also have Eurostar tickets to go to Brussels which will more likely be lost. Financially this might turn out to be very expensive.

But then again, a good kiwi friend of ours has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has already had the op to remove one breast. It all happened very fast. Compared to that, our little problems are nothing to worry about. Our friend is doing well and we hope that the recovery will not be too long and hard.

More news when we have them...
