We arrived at our idyllic anchorage in Rangiroa, Tuamotus, yesterday afternoon at about 4pm. The entrance to the lagoon is much larger and deeper than the one in Takaroa but we still had to wait for slack water as the overfalls at the entrance can be quite big. I saw this morning 1.5 to 2m waves during outgoing tide!

Good passage from Takaroa. No wind, calm sea. We had to motor all the way but it was pleasant. Magnificent sky at night, full of stars and we saw a lot of shooting stars.

As I said, it is a beautiful anchorage here. Flat calm sea as it is well protected from the wind, turquoise water, loads of palm trees ashore, beaches. There is more civilisation here than in Takaroa but this atoll is also much larger. The whole of Tahiti island could fit within this lagoon.

I went for a run on the road along the sea early this morning. Very pleasant.

We will go and explore the village later.

We will probably stay here tomorrow and then make our way to Tahiti.

More tomorrow.

Love
Mike and Catherine
