The EJ's Voyage

We are now in St Martin anchored in Simpson Bay. We went through the
bridge at 17:30 on Sunday which means that we had to rush through as it is
the last opening time of the day. We were the last boat to go through and
almost missed it. So we were lucky! We had a good time in Antigua with
Cindy. Then went to Nevis and caught a baracuda on the way. Unfortunately,
these are susceptible to diseases so we didn't take the chance to eat it.
We had a fantastic night in a beach bar, Sunshine's, in Nevis and I
couldn't refuse the offer to dance a reggae with a very hot local...
something Cindy didn't miss to photograph of course! After Nevis, went to
St Kitts and rented a car to visit the island. There is a huge and
magnificent fort. Had lunch at Rawlin's Plantation. Breathtaking
place. Then on to St Barts. We thought that taking up a buoy would be a
good idea. But we did not realise how difficult it is in St Barts! They
are placed over 3 rows in the middle of the tiny port, huge boats on each
of them and absolutely no room to manoeuvre. You have to pick up a bow AND
a stern buoy. On top of it all, our bow thruster died on us just when we
were coming onto the buoy. An experience that did test our nerves. Luckily
Mark jumped in his dinghy to help as well as a few other people who I
guess were concerned about us hitting their boats. All was well at the end
and no damage done. Not sure I would like to do this again though. St
Barts is the St Tropez of the Caribbean. I know quite a few of our friends
who would simply die of excitment because of the amount of so many
stunning girls around!!! We had a fun lunch on the beach at La Plage and
got very wet on our way there as it poured down with rain for just a few
minutes.Left St Barts after lunch for St Martin. Bow Thruster seem to be
working again now. The 400A fuse had blown. Will go to anchor on the French
side tomorrow, at Marigot Bay, and leave at 4AM on Wednesday for the BVI.
About 80nm.Winds always around 18 - 20 knots, gusting 25. According to the
forecast the tropical showers should start to die off now.Good news,
Mike's mum seem to be recovering slowly but well at home. So all is well
here and hope it is the same with you all.Hugs and kissesCatherinex (and
Mike)
