After a couple of nights at sea, we decided to
anchor in Coral Bay, Port Essington, for 24 hours--having been told there was a
very friendly small hotel ashore, with a dinghy dock etc. We arrived there
babout 0900 on 27th--lovely anchorage, beach etc. And a lovely hotel hidden in
gardens and palm trees--virtually empty--how will it work!--no roads,
guests either arrive by sea or fly in on chartered planes to the small
airstrip--beautifully maintained and lovely staff--had lunch, used the
pool---sea looks very inviting, but there are crocs!!--then dinner--and back on
board for the night at anchor.
So this morning back to reality and set off at 0900
for another overnighter to Darwin. Light winds--currently sailing at only 4
knots--but sea calm and all well--hope the wind gets up a bit--don't like the
idea of using the engine, but may have to resort to
it.
