Well we got here--earlier than planned!! The
forecasts indicated strong winds followed by a change to southerly winds--so we
decided to pre-empt all the pain and do an overnighter in fair weather to get
down here.
We left Coffs Harbour yesterday early--would have
liked to stay another day--and travelled south for 34 hours to Sydney, arriving
1530 today, Monday. Motored much of the way--winds were nothing like as
strong as forecast--bit frustrating really, but here we are.
We're spending our first night at anchor--go to the
marina tomorrow--and what an anchorage!! We dropped the hook right next to the
Opera House--in a bay between it and the Botanic Gardens--so great views of CBD
skyscrapers, Bridge, Opera House etc. No-one else here, but it's good holding
and the book says it's ok...........................!
