This is where we usually tie up the dinghy when
going ashore.Porto Picalo in the background.

Our time in Siracusa was spent walking around the
old town and shopping in the market. We managed to find a launderette and also a
chandlery to buy some anodes as we were told that Tunisia is not very well
stocked re boat items. The weather has been quite warm 30 degrees plus but the
wind has really blown in the bay and some days we have been unable to get off
the boat as the sea has been too rough for the dinghy. We have been kept
entertained though as there seems to be an abundence of flying fish and every
now and then we hear splashing, it really is a funny sight we don't think
we have ever seen so many flying fish at one time.On our 3rd day here we met up
with Marc a Belgian chap that we met last year in Lakka bay and who over winters
in Tunisia, he came over to the boat a number of times and gave us
some useful information re Monastir and the boatyard there. It really is quite a
small world the number of people we keep bumping into.
Our plan now is not to go along the south coast of
Sicily but instead to head for Malta have a few days there and then head for the
Italian island of Lampedusa and from there on to Monastir in Tunisia for our
"lift out".
