Subject: Valencia. Tried to find the Americas Cup Marina by taxi to
check out their winter rates.Unfortunately taxi driver hadn't a clue where he
was going and it was made even more difficcult as the roads have been sectioned
off in preparation for some car rally which is taking place at the end of
August.Decided to go into centre instead to buy some new brakes for the cycle.As
we were in Carrefour we met up unexpectedly with Jenny from 'Escaper'.they
are moored in the Americas cup marina so she was able to give us detailed
instructoions of how to enter the marina by car, sounds very complicated so we
will probarbly visit by sea.
Took a taxi again in the evening to visit the
Yanmar workshop to see how they were getting on with our saildrive,we had
arranged a 4.30 meting with the engineer.The taxi driver was quite a character
and chatted non stop in both a form of English and Spanish,he waited for us at
the industrial site at no extra charge until we were finished with the engineer,
unfortunately the engineer did not show and we were left with the receptionist
who did not speak any English and obviously knew nothing of what was going on,we
were not pleased!!!She did at least show us the bench where the work was
supposedly being done!
We managed to get the telephone number of the
Yanmar agent for the whole of Valencia and we will ve having words!
Had a drink in the bar at the Club Nautico on our
return to calm down.
Busty left us on 13th for his flight to the UK,it
will be funny without him.
