Continuing with early morning walks so long as the
weather allows,it has been really a dreadful month for rain and more rain which
does not seem to let up!! Apparently this is normal for Greece heavy rains for
the months of October and March. We have not known the boat to feel so damp will
have to sort heaters out and a dehumidifier!!!
Took Lilly for her rabbies Injection at the local
vets, who speak very little English but are extremly nice.Lilly sure did get the
full works from a head to toe examination and weigh in ,comb through and anti
flea spray regardless of the fact that she has a Frontline treatment every
month. We thought that this was going to cost a ' bomb' but we were nicely
surprised by the inexpensive bill that we received in fact the cheapest we have
ever paid.
More heavy winds and rain predicted for the rest of
the week plus thunderstorms!!!Will hibernate until the weather calms
down!!
21st October
At last managed to wash and dry and take down Genoa
sail to store for the winter. Mark has now invested in a MIFI from Vodafone,
which seems to be all the rage at the moment for mobile broadband,so Mark has
spent quite a bit of time installing this device. We will now have a good
internet connection and be able to Skype the girls with very little interference
at last!!
22nd October.
Went out in the evening to a Greek Taverna where
the local fishermen come to play traditional Greek music on their guitars and
mandolins.Met up with a crowd from the marina and it turned out a nice
evening.
23rd October
Market day!! Again met up with a crowd after
shopping at the market at Kostas local cafe , no not the Costa coffe shops,
the owner is called Kosta and speaks really good English
24th October
At last the sun came out and we decided to cycle up
the causeway to the point for a swim and mezze.
Unfortunately due to the severe winds Shirley
Valentine's little table pontoons had been destroyed and all the thatched shades
demolished,it was really sad to see the owners trying to salvage bits of wood
etc and rake down the mountains of seaweeed that had collected in
heaps!
Sunshine did not last and the next day saw even
more rain again and we were not able to get off the boat!! Tomorrow is a public
holiday and they are having a procession in town so lets hope the rain holds off
for them.
28th October
'Ohi' Day which translated means no day and was the
day that the Greece during ww2 literaly said no to Mussolini's troops and would
not allow the his troups passage through Greece. The Greeks celebrate with
church services and various parades throughout the towns and
villages.
