The sun was shining bright on our
early departure from Figuera de Foz, had a blazing day of sunshine but not
much wind so ended up motor sailing to Peniche (a busy fishing village). We were
accompanied by some Portuguese dolphins and had to constantly dodge lobster
pots, it was like going through mine fields! When we arrived a French sailor
helped catch our lines and we headed up to the office. The marina operator had
left a note stating he'd be back soon so we ended up going for some tapas
nearby, however little did we know they were not tapas...ended up having dinner
early, sampled the sardines and cuttlefish. The people in general are very
friendly here. When we went back to the marina reception the official was very
relaxed...When asked for security keycards for the marina he said "the gate is
kept broken because it's too much bother to keep issuing and retrieving
keycards!". He also said he was going to take the day off tomorrow so if we
wanted to pay just post it through the letter box!
Had an early but eventful night...at 0400
Samantha got a knock on her window from that French neighbour of
ours...little did she know that said sailor was stark naked and invited her
for a sandwich on his yacht! At this point dad was called and he went outside to
find him crouching next to Samantha's window he looked up at Dad and casually
said "Bonjour!..." Dad suggested that he went back to his yacht pronto which he
duly did, he was last seen prancing down the pontoon towards his yacht! Beat
that ministry of funny walks!
We did have words with him today, we think he was
rather embarrassed, he has since disappeared with his yacht...
Off early tomorrow to
Cascais.
