We arrived in Ponta Delgada marina quarantine area at
14.10. We did motor the last 12 miles as in the lee of the island with no wind,
as not racing completely legal. The good wind we had for the previous 24 hours
started dropping about midnight and we were expecting it to drop to 4-6 knots,
it never did and kept 10-12 with gusts up to 18 all night, with the Code 0 up we
made good progress.
Passage took 18 days 18 hours 20 minutes. 2695 nm done
some 430 nm more than the great circle of 2265 nm. And for those who
gauge passage time by poo's, John is 19 and Donald 4.
We are in quarantine until we have a PCR test which we
hope is tomorrow morning and results back a few hours later. Once that has
happened can move to the proper marina and get a shower and shave plus proper
food unlike my cooking and maybe a beer.
Boat already had a fresh water wash. Heads given a good
blast of fresh water. The fuel tank checked for leak, none found suspect the
quantity sender, will calibrate again when tank is full. Next job today is a
rigging check.
Dinner this evening not sure we are going to see if we
can get a delivery from restaurant across the way.
