Day trip to Kingston.
We got the 0830 ferry to Kingston this morning. We did
leave on time but only went 20-30 meters then back onto the berth. We had about
a 30 minute delay getting away. Fro watching what was happening from our vantage
point I think there may have been a fuel or oil leak that could only be sorted
with the engines shut down. Reason for thinking this saw a broom taken from the
cargo deck and once on our way the engineer was up cleaning the soles of his
boots. Whether a fault or some maintenance done and something not done up
properly, who knows?
Trip across was like being in the yacht with the rolling
and pitching going on in the 2-3 meter waves and spray going
everywhere.
Kingston we checked out the grocery shops to see if a
better choice and were prices less than further south. Prices marginally less.
Choice was far better and in Massy John managed to find his breakfast bars, not
seen anywhere else in SVG. Wondered around town some of the buildings looked
interesting to there history and only a few hundred metres from the centre some
really run down houses. All in all a good day out and a good walk up a hill to
try and get a decent view which we failed at. Trip back was no smoother on the
gap between St Vincent and Bequia. Never mind we have laundry to look forward to
tomorrow.
