Friday 13th August

We got up nice and early this morning and got all ready to leave at 7am, but checked the weather forecast, changed our minds, and decided to stay for another day as the winds would be better tomorrow. Checked with the harbour office to make sure that was OK with them and paid for another night. Later in the morning we took our binoculars for another walk along Levington Creek and further up the Orwell river to the west. We saw curlews, redshanks and egrets on the shoreline and some more of the black tailed godwits and lapwings that we had seen yesterday.

Called in at the Ship Inn for a drink on the way back to the boat.

Another early night and early start planned in the morning at 6.30am heading for Ramsgate with some interesting pilotage across the Thames Estuary in prospect.
