We set off South again for another short hop of 28nm to Anzio. Anzio famed for the allied invasion in the last war and further back in history both Caligula and Nero where born here.

Once again we had a great sail - the first hour out of Porto di Roma we motor sailed but by 11.00am the wind had, as usual, woken up (like the rest of the Italians) to some 14/16knots from the NW giving us a nice broad reach on a smooth sea - the engine is getting well rested now. Again we made great time and rounded the point of Anzio around 2.00pm took the sails down to enter the harbour. We were duly asked to wait 15 minutes outside the port while a dredger was moving around in the entrance. Whilst waiting the wind got stronger gusting 21 knots around the headland, so we were fairly pleased to be getting in.

Anyway we finally got in to find that the visitors berths were on the outside of the harbour wall, which was a mighty long walk to the marina offices and the town centre/old town which is just behind the marina. - well it will keep us fit.

The town centre was lively and full of nice shops etc. - which made a change from the last two marina's. The old town was particularly attractive - with nice restaurants enticing us to eat out.
