After being Port bound in Bastia for three nights, with high winds, we finally got sailing – Heading South the wind was initially great with 15/20 knots on the stern. Within two hours the wind died and swung round to come from the South, on our noise - radio forecasts from the Coast guard started to warn of strong winds against us, exactly where we were heading. Under the circumstances we decided to stop early, only twenty miles South of Bastia, in a place called Port Taverna.

Having said all that, on route the air was clear and sunny with lovely views to the snow covered mountains in Corsica and the Island of Elba in the East.

This afternoon we have reviewed the forecasts, which have changed again substantially. The conclusion is that going South to Sardinia is becoming increasingly difficult weather wise, so if things don’t change again, we are going to head East to Elba tomorrow and then to the mainland of Italy.

The weather tonight is finally much more normally for the Med. – totally still/calm and quiet. Phil may finally get a night’s sleep without any ‘Plop Plop’ (if you don’t know what that is ask Phil.)
