We left Bonifacio for Sardinia in a lovely 8/12knot easterly breeze. A mornings beat and we were amongst the Islands (Maddalena Islands) off the NE Coast of Sardinia. They are wild and rocky and the bays are equally tricky to enter with rocks everywhere.

We tried to anchor off one of the Northern Islands for lunch but the anchor winch decided it was dead so we slowly sailed on to the largest Island and moored up in the little marina /fishing port – the cheapest place we have been to for a year or two.

With the anchor to fix we decided to stay an extra day fix that – a loose electrical contact all ok now - and then explore the Islands including the house of General Garibaldi, not of biscuit fame, but the creator of the modern unified Italy. He lived on/owned the island Caprera – see picys.

Tomorrow we are going a little further south to Olbia where Bob gets his plane back, then we are coming back to explore the Islands and Ports in this fascinating area for a weekish.
