Having decided that sailing around Elba on Wed/Thursday looked doubtful with fairly stiff winds, we booked return Flights for Phil & Rick back from Pisa on Wednesday.

We spent the day drifting very slowly from Portoferraio to Marina Salivoli on the mainland.

Having got into Salivoli early afternoon and booked the taxi to the station for 7.00am Wednesday, we then took the local bus into Piombino for out last team dinner.

Given that Piombino is an industrial town with huge Chimney stacks – as seen from the sea – we were delighted to find that it had a  charming old town with a number of typical little Italian restaurants.

The guys duly got the taxi at 7.00am this morning, leaving me to do a number of jobs/domestic duties before Alison arrives on Saturday.

From here the new plan is to head South down the Italian coast to Rome, Naples etc.
