Our plan to spend a few days in Port doing the domestics and some shore-based sight-seeing has been timed well with the weather. Strong winds have been blowing (force 6-8) so sailing would have been pretty uncomfortable at best – only a few boats have been seen out at sea. It has nonetheless stayed sunny and warm.

In fact yesterday the wind was so strong, even in Port, that Alison hung the washing up down below for fear that it would have blown away had it been on the washing  line outside, as is customary on Sealion. Happily with the dry sunny/warm atmosphere it still dried in a few hours.

Today (Saturday) we hired a car – they were all out of Ferrari’s so we had to contend ourselves with a Fiat Panda. We went along the North Sardinian coastal road across to the other side of the Island and the town/Port of Alghero. The route was fairly mountainous and full of lovely villages and fishing ports. The country seems to have been spared any ugly new buildings even in the towns, so it remains a very attractive place.
