Set off at 6.30am so we get out of the river at high tide - Whilst deep up river, the estuary was only 3.5mt at full tide.

The wind had been blowing all night (keeping us awake together with the music from the bars that went on until 4.30am - The Spannish know how to spend a Saturday night) and was still 25/30knots on exiting the river. - We were followed out by a 48ft Rassy Hallberg 'Sea Cloud' , who was moored next to us in the marina. Had a few drinks with them, pleasant couple on their way to the Med. - For those of you who sailed with the Rally you will remember they have been following us since Bayonne.

Up with some reefed sails and off we went - the wind dropped a back to 10 knots for a while but was 15-18knots most of the day giving a good downwind sail all the way to Rota - Have used next to no diesel since the Rally, just as well with the prices.

Sea was fairly rolly, so being just two of us and both feeling tired we chickened out of using the Spinny and polled out the Genoa for much of the way. Very little wild life now - haven't seen a dolphin since the Atlantic.
