We set off today expecting an N/NW wind to take us down south to Bonifacio – it turned out to be more southerly so we ended up motoring much of the 53 n. miles. Not the most comfortable trip – yesterday’s Mistral had left some really big swells which were very confused in some sectors where the sea shelves up from 2500mts deep to a few hundred mtrs very quickly.

After about eight hours we entered the amazing port of Bonifacio – from the sea it is like a crack in the cliffs you enter – once in you are in this deep sheltered valley with the town above.

Tomorrow we will explore the town before moving on.
