Having spent the week fixing lots of little things and finally installing a new fridge (the old one just died after two days), We left for a shake down sail.

Happily there was some sun and a gentle 10/12 knot SW breeze which was perfect for the 25 mile trip to the Vieux Port in Marseilles. A gentle broad reach got us there about 3.00pm. We got something of a surprise though when the marina announced that the prices have increased over 30% over what we paid here last August - That's inflation for you.

The good news is that the engine/new sail drive seal preformed well, the rudder leak seems to have been fixed (fingers crossed), the new mainsail went in and out without snagging. The bad news is there still seems to be a little water coming in when we sail. A mystery for the moment.

The plan is to spend at least two days here to do some sight seeing which we didn't get a chance to do last year.

The weather has not been good for most of last week, with cloud some strong winds and occasional heavy rain. - We heard on the news that they have had snow again in the Pyrenees and that just a little west of us they have had record cold temperatures for this time of year - Needless to say Alison has had the central heating on. Unfortunately more rain is forecast tomorrow and for the next few days. So we may stay a day or two more if it is very bad.

Pictures;
                  Chateau D'If - Apparently the Count de Monte Cristo has moved on now.
