Another lovely sail down to Tobago Cays, probably the most picturesque anchorage in the Caribbean. It’s a large bay surrounded by Horseshoe Reef, with several islands in it. The water colour is spectacular, a kaleidoscope of blues, turquoise, and greens. And one slight snag was the weather, it rained every day, and most of the night – not just little rain, but lots of it. And as it was overcast most of the time the pictures don’t do the place justice, but it was still quite magical. The anchorage is open to the full force of the wind, and watching the squalls come towards us was quite spectacular.

There were lots of boats there as always, but still plenty of room for more. One stinkboat even had the biggest water slide you’ve ever seen, rather like those slides that aircraft use for emergency evacuations, only bigger. We never saw anyone on it though.

The last time I was here the water by the  turtle sanctuary area was cloudy, but this time I finally got to see them, lots actually, I almost bumped into four. They seem very happy, just munching their way through the sea grass.
