So for Jill and Marci’s first sail I though I’d keep it easy and simple. Just a short (20nm) downwind sail from St Martin to Saba. I did say to Marci, who has very little sailing experience, that she should savour the experience, it doesn’t get better than this (and tomorrow it’s going to be upwindish, which is “interesting)

 

I hadn’t been to Saba before, it’s an interesting place, very mountainous with “the road that none said could be built”, and the taxi drivers call “the road that shouldn’t have been built”, cos some of them cant get up the hills.

 

We didn’t go ashore, just stopped for one night as a break, but after an early start arrived in good time for what was supposed to be some of the Caribbean’s best snorkelling. Actually its pretty average, but an interesting stop anyway.
