We are now in Cascais marina, which is very nice but sets the record for expensiveness - €60 a night, ouch.

We’ve been very lucky in our timing down this coast, everywhere we go there is a fiesta happening and here it’s a festival of the sea. They have a huge stage in town, and the streets are packed with people.

I remember being here with Pete Bernfeld a few years ago getting ready for the big sail to Porto Santo. The town is much improved since then, they’ve cleaned it up a lot with flowers everywhere. But the Jumbo supermarket is still a long walk. Yesterday we reprised my trip with Pete and his shopping trolley for a big shop, taking my granny trolley as well as the manly lifter. But thanks to the helpful Germans we discovered that Jumbo deliver – yippee! Just the application of small amounts of more cash.

We are likely to stay in Cascais now till we depart for the Canaries on Tuesday. It’s the best place for supplies and fuel, and easy to get to the airport for Fi and Bob. We will probably anchor off though to stave off bankruptcy, so if you don’t hear from us don’t worry.

We are off to do the sights of Lisbon today, then an exciting morning cleaning boats and washing clothes tomorrow I expect.
