Land ahoy. We sighted St Lucia and Martinique at dawn, and they are now within mobile phone range. Lots of other yachts arriving at the same time, so quite busy on the radar and AIS.

Last night we had our final meal at sea, and celebrated with the famous Fray Bentos tinned snake and pigmy pies. Yum.

We also had probably the best sunset we have seen en route, and we’ve had some crackers. At one point we had the brilliant display of reds, oranges, blues and even purple on the bow, and behind us a full moon was rising casting a silver sheen on the water. Magical.

We should be tied up in the marina about midday local time, and the ARC promises every yacht a rum punch and basket of fruit on arrival. I suspect we will make good use of both.
