Still in Fig Foz.

Last night we had winds of 30 knots across the marina from the South East. The strength wasn’t a problem, but the temperature was incredible. Having had a pretty warm day with dark clouds threatening rain and thunder,  at 9pm the wind suddenly shot up to over 30 degrees C, about 85 degrees F, and the humidity fell to 20%. Standing on deck was like having your face in front of a hair dryer. The wind then went right round the clock, and finally settled back to a gentle breeze. Weird.

Our plans are to leave here tomorrow morning, and head south along the coast. We may not have internet access for a couple of days. Depending on the weather we may go to Nazare to anchor or marina, or attempt to get into Sao Martinho do Porto which is a bit like Lulworth Cove. The next larger place, maybe with wifi, is Peniche.

After that we will head in towards Lisbon, maybe stopping in Cascais then Oeiras, both of which have easy access to Lisbon. On the 28th  Fiona flies back to the UK, and Bob arrives.

Fishing report: fishing has been suspended due to the reel being broken. Apparently the locals say there is no chance of catching anything inshore at more than 3 knots, but there are firm promises of big fish on the trip to the Canaries. (other food supplies will be acquired just in case…)
