Yesterday we left Povoa at first light (well it would have been first light if we hadn’t forgotten that Portugal is an hour later than Spain). The crew were even more grumpy than me, and given that no one has ever accused me of being a morning person that’s saying something.

The forecast was more Yanmar weather, and so it proved for the first few hours. Later we had good winds of 10 to 15 knots, but had to leave the engines on to get there on time. Perfect sunburn weather, fresh winds (someone had two fleeces on…). It was a nice day, and a pleasant sail.

Desolately, no fish. And he who fishes now has a broken reel that resists his expert engineering skills. The technical term used would get caught in your spam filter.

We arrived at Figueira da Foz at 1800. A nice marina, and having finally found the driver for my  wifi aerial I can intermittently get internet from the boat. Otherwise its up to the café for wifi, where one is honour bound to buy beer. The first time we have had web access for a few days.

Jane has just left, taxi and train to Lisbon tonight, where she is staying in the same nice hotel we did. Then she will have no problem getting her flight tomorrow morning. Its been great having her on board, she’s been huge fun and we wish her well with everything. Come back again Jane.

We will be here for a few days, then continuing south. Probably to Peniche  and then Cascais for Lisbon by next weekend when Bob arrives.
