So for Cathy's first sail we just went down the coast of St Lucia to the Pitons. These are two volcanic peaks that are emblematic of St Lucia, they even appear on the national flag. They plunge right into the sea, and the whole area is very deep even close to shore.

The moorings by the Bat caves were all taken, but a slightly dodgy looking boat boy told us he had a buoy by the town of Soufriere. Hmmm . After much discussion, and a very helpful local who told us a proper mooring would be free "in an hour" when the charter boats new propeller arrived.... Amazingly it proved to be true, so we took a nice buoy just before dark. The alternative would have been to set off and overnight it to Bequia, which I wasn't very keen on.

The pong from the town was a bit ripe, until I remembered how the town got its name. There is the Caribbeans only drive in active volcano nearby, and the smell of sulphur is strong at times.
