A tricky passage with three main currents, the IntertropicalConvergence Zone (ITCZ), the Peru or Humboldt, and the Panama all mixed up by the Galapagos effect (endemic of course!) not to mention El Nino or La Nina. The area is noted for light winds and squalls.
On the basis that the shortest distance is a straigt line that is where we are going! 1232 n miles. We have just passed 500 n miles in 72 hrs and the weather is typical no wind stronger than force 3, the currents balancing out with 3 n miles of current against in 500 n miles. The sea temperature is 34 degrees! the sun is shining temperature 32 degrees with numerous thunderstorms, but little wind through the squalls. Barometric pressure remains steady at 1012.and the humidity 84 degrees.
Passed one fishing boat 1000 n miles from land which naturally was on a collision course!
Four and a half days to go and I suppose it beats a good day in the office everytime!
