On Friday we sailed to Marmara on the Island of
Marmara Adasi. where we berthed on the fishing quay courtesy of the president of
the fishing association! well it did cost 70 TL but we had electricity, water
and a cup of tea. Very friendly people and a lively local village. We departed
the next day after a leisurely breakfast and set sail for Gelibolu at the
entrance to the Dardenelles we arrived at the anchorage at 3pm but didnt like
it. It was blowing 30 knots and very exposed so we decided to push on through
the Dardenelles to Bozcaada. 50 n miles to go. and 5 hrs of daylight! Heavy
traffic and flying along at 12.5 knots!! One of the best sails we have had and
tied up at 8pm.
Sunday morning brought a huge thunderstorm with
lightning directly above us. There could be worse places to ride out a
storm!!
