We anchored in Academy Bay, Porto Ayora, Santa Cruz in the Galapagos Islands at 1200 hrs this morning. The passage from Lima, a distance of 1032 n miles took six days and the weather was kind to us. Not enough wind and too much motoring, but we finally found the Humboldt current which accounted for 63 n miles.Don't knock it!
Now we are back in the land of Pelicans, blue footed boobies, sea lions and sharks. The water temperature is 32 degrees which is warmer than the air temperature! and now we are running the air con and no more Eberspacher heater. We have travelled from 56degrees S to the equator in two and a half months.
For the next week we need to rest. Dave and Daria fly home to England on the 2nd of May and Stephen arrives on the 1st of May. Im not sure if we will have enough time to get to Alaska before the winter sets in. Our next stop will be Mexico but we need to see what is happening with the swine fever.
Congratulations to Marta who completed her circumnavigation in Galapagos
