We arrived in Reyjkavik a week ago spending the first night in the fishing harbour rafted up to a rotting trawler. no water and no electricity. Going ashore was a nightmare! Gisli Halson the Harbour Master arranged for us to raft up in the Brokey sailing club which at the moment is a building site due to construction of the Concert Hall. Still no power but we managed to get water via a 150 metre hose pipe loaned from the builder! The first night in Brokey was uncomfortable in 45 knot winds with a big swell snaking the tempory pontoon up and down.
We rented a car and set off to explore . A visit to the Blue Lagoon, The Icelandic Parliament Alpingi established in 930 AD, Gullfoss waterfall and the spouting hot spring area around Geysir and Strokkur. On Sunday we went white water rafting with a barbeque in the evening. Monday we sorted the boat out and motored across to the fishing quay to refuel. Bernard packed and got a taxi to the airport to fly home to Paris.Thank you for your help and company. We look forward to your next journey with us.
On Tuesday we drove to Dyrholaey hotel to meet up with cousin Tony Escritt. On the  way we stopped at the waterfalls at  Seljalandfoss and Skogafoss
We spent two nights at Dyrholaey and joined Tony's bus trip with 25 healthy walkers! Thursday we had a long drive to visit the Vatnajokull site of the Grimsvotn volcano the most recent erruption with red ash everywhere ! Driving at times was difficult in almost zero visibility. We went to the Jokusarlon glacial lagoon with the Glacier above  and the Skeldararjokull and Skaftafell National Park .The South Eastern corner of Iceland is amazing in parts with moonlike landscape of huge lava fields in sme places just like a dust dessert! and with the Snow covered mountains towering above and Glaciers coming all the way down.
We drov back to Reyjkavik in the evening and a very nice policeman gave me a speeding ticket as a present!
It's always good to get home to Festina and to find everything is in order.
We are waiting for Callum and Debbie Edge to arrive on Sunday and will start to look for a weather window to sail back to the Faroes.
